Simple Money, Rich Life

It was May, 1999 when I graduated from college with almost a six-figure debt. As if that wasn’t enough, a friend and I thought we would celebrate our graduation with a two-week trip to Europe – England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. It was our graduation gift to ourselves and we both had pharmacist jobs lined up so we thought we deserved a trip of a lifetime before we entered the “real world”.

A few months later, I got engaged, we got married in 80 days, and we began our journey towards the American dream of home ownership, having two nice cars, and a comfortable lifestyle. We weren’t quite ready to add to the statistics at the time of having 2.5 kids.

We were saving towards a down payment for our first home and paying my student loan debt, but we spent a lot of money on a care-free lifestyle - taking vacations and going out to eat whenever we wanted.  Because we also gave to needs and causes we believed in, the way we lived made it more palatable and justifiable.

Then in 2001, Dave Ramsey came to Spokane and we spent Friday night and Saturday with this financial guru. That weekend changed the trajectory of our lives. If you’re not familiar with Dave Ramsey, he advocates for living like nobody else now so that someday you can live like nobody else. We put into practice all that we learned that weekend and we have since tried to live according to his recommendations. It’s what allowed us to move to Asia in 2007, debt-free. If we had continued in our initial lifestyle without implementing his suggestions, I don’t think we could have done that.

As much as Dave Ramsey has been used to transform our financial lives, I recently discovered a different financial expert I like even better - Bob Lotich. I’ve only been a part of his community for a couple of months, yet I’m so inspired by his work that I’m using his materials to teach my children about finances. Bob and his wife Linda came into marriage individually in a financial hole. Yet they had a crazy desire and an audacious goal - to give $1 million away before they turned 40. They had this goal while they were still in major debt. Not only did they overcome $400,000 in debt, but they’ve also been able to achieve their wild goal. That kind of spirit and faith is what drew me to them.

In just the last few weeks that I’ve been a part of their community, they’ve already done two significant giveaways worth thousands of dollars. I am not an affiliate, but for those who want to focus on their finances and would like to try something different I am introducing you to them with a book giveaway. I’ll enter your name in a drawing if you respond to this email.

Do you know others who might also benefit from this book? Direct them to sign up for future emails or send them my way (with their permission of course) and I’ll take care of the rest. I’ll enter their name in the drawing and yours again. If there’s enough interest, I’ll give away 2 books - one for new subscribers and another for current subscribers.

I’m not quite finished with the book yet, but I’m already learning new things. It’s making a difference in our financial perspective and practices. What I really like about Bob and Linda is they do a lot of biblical mindset work and pair it with simple practicality. They’re both natural encouragers so I feel highly supported each step of the way. I highly recommend Bob and Linda Lotich’s book!

If the title and subtitle of the book grabs your attention, simply reply and you may just get it for free. I’ll announce the winner next month. Stay tuned.

If you decide to buy it for yourself or others here, it’s not only the best price you’ll find but you’ll also be entered to win a $2,000 Amazon gift card to celebrate the book’s first birthday. See why I like them?! One entry per book and you have until June 15th.

I’ll announce the winner(s) of the book give away the first week of June so you have time to check it out, then decide whether you’d like to buy it for friends and family.
